I am sorry for those who have lost their jobs. Sales is just awaiting the news. I don't see many of us being asked to stay. What do they really need the sales force for now at this point anyway. Anyday now!
Do you think that they are going to get their act together to save some jobs. I am not sure if the current process is going to pass the FDA and the consultants. I hope for everyone that they are going to do good and give so people their jobs back
They made Betcher a DM no wonder this place went under, the guy was fired from Coca Col a he couldnt sell the number 1 brand in the world. The guy was always bragging about bringing donuts to offices, what a joke.
The Pharmacy is supposed to start weighing material the first Week in March. And have "some" product ready to go sometime in April. Which means some support people will or should be called back prior to that. Just what I've heard. And yes I'm upset about being laid off 2-6-09. Forrest Pharm is hiring big time.
For those who have lost their jobs because KV's management is so ignorant, be aware that your resume may be frowned upon because most scientific industries are sure to know what went down to cause such lay-off. Now, because of those few imbeciles who are probably still working at KV managing what is left to be managed, all of us are screwed.
you get your vacation pay if you were layed off or should I say "laid" off since we got screwed., if you get employment some where else that is. Otherwise, if you were layed off you get nothing, after six months if you are not working and or not working at KV then you will get the severence package, unless, they terminate your position in the meantime. This is under the warn act. Good luck.
Got whacked in BT on the 6th. Amazing that most of the people left are doing nothing. Brannan got whacked but he still chose who he wanted out of there. Why would you still have second and third shift help desk and operations people when they will not be supporting anyone? Brannan grew this department too big and most of BT will be gone shortly along with the rest of the company.
What about the Head of Quality? Is he still with the company? He is ultimately responsible for the Quality of product released and overall compliance of the site. I sure hope they aren't keeping him!
Brannan had no clue about running a technology department. He only listened to his reports, but never heard the real issues. There was no rhyme or reason as to who was let go. There was no loyalty to the people who put their careers on the line for him – he was only out for himself. There were business analysts that didn’t even know the applications that they were working on – no wonder the business never learned how to use the applications they purchased for millions. I wish the people that are left the best…
Is our vacation pay accrued? ie. they are only responsible for paying 1/6th of out total yearly? 2 weeks yrly = 1.6 days by end of Feb. i think I did the math right on that one. Thanks for any info.
I do not know if I was a layoff or terminated no one called me I called and was told that the company would be laid off for six months or less the sent me info for unemployment I did not know anything about severence pay so I did not sign anything can some one enlighten me on how it goes.
Figures they you called and they didnt call you. They have to tell you if you are layed off or terminated. If you are terminated they have to give you a bennifit package based on warn act. if you are layed off, your screwed like the rest of us,, nothing but unemployment which pays for about your groceries and a few basic bills. These guys are just plain f'kn ignorant. They give no concern to the employees and or their families. Say what you will, but when msh was there at least we still had a job and I am pretty sure he wouldnt have let the FDA shut down perfectly good product lines and recall products we didnt have problems with. This is what happens when you have "socialistic" views in the goverment and you let goverment agencies take control of companies. I believe msh would have had legal telling the FDA to file what they have to for products in question and the rest would have been in a legal battle for the FDA to follow procedures and not strong arm those in charge who cant seem to get some big balls and save our jobs and company. hows that for a point of view.
Apparently -- now KV is in the censorship business as well because Human Resources sent a memo out stating that KV employees were NOT allowed to give any references for ex-KV employees and to refer them to the Human Resources department, who from what I can tell, is just an answering machine.
"Apparently -- now KV is in the censorship business as well because Human Resources sent a memo out stating that KV employees were NOT allowed to give any references for ex-KV employees and to refer them to the Human Resources department"
Just read from the AP, the first $2,400 in unemployment will not be taxable this year and 65% of Cobra for 9 months will be paid under the stimulus bill. Hope they're correct.
i left a few years ago and sold my stock (2 year holding). $4.5 per share cost. $19 per share cashout.
I then withdrew my 401K (5 year vesting). KV kept a portion of my vested amount saying "there was a mistake in statement terminology".
Good luck cashing out and/or getting paid 100% of what you are owed.
So glad I trusted my instincts and cashed out then! I played by the rules and didn't trust them to do the right thing.
I was a multiple award winner. Having KV/Ther-Rx on my resume did not give me any advantage.
Selling vitamins and OTC p-fresh better than the rest of this (no college degree required) salesforce doesn't win outside the KV walls.
I was fortunate to have had a former colleague with influence at a nice paying specialty pharma company. Doubled my income with them for 5 years. (401k- 50cents on dollar up to 10% of income, automatic 100% vesting on day1 of employment)I was fortunate that the pharma industry was still thriving.
has anyone heard if there will be more layoffs? I was one of the unlucky ones that lost my job, but I still have friends their that I am worried about.
The rumor is call backs on March 2, production starts March 9. They are calling hunreds back for a test to rehire and reposition personel this weekend.
It wasnt a skills test, more like a phsych exam. It asked alot of questions about your peronality, character,," pick the word which best describes you" etc. I hope they do call back soon, its rough out here, very few jobs and many applicants. I really like working for KV. Oh well, good luck everyone and hope to see you around if I get to come back.
it would figure that they mess with everyones minds and then require a psych test to return to week. i wish everyone the best in getting back to work and getting things up and running. let hope the layofs are as short lived as this board may indicate
This may be a stupid question, nevertheless I shall ask it. Do you think they will do call-backs for those people who were terminated as part of this big lay off that KV did ? It's pretty bleak out there, few jobs and too many applicants...
Don't know. I am guessing no. They are letting go of all the Top producing reps. One guy is the hardest working I have ever seen. Went to Presidents Club 7 times. They let him go. Looks like they are looking at salary and geography. One guy they kept couldn't sell dirt, but he was a low salary guy. His counterpart could sell water for big $$, had been with Ther-Rx for 7 years and they let him go. No rhyme or reason, but doesn't look good. Remember sales drives operations not reverse. Sorry to all my friends loosing their jobs because of someone elses greed.
KS here, what's the latest on the VPs? Anyone from the Repliva group? How about John, Sales Director? Darn, what's his last name? He is ok from a management stand point. Anyone know about him?
Thanks to those who were kind enough to answer my question re: call-back for terminated employees...! Good luck to all of you. I loved working for KV, the people I worked with were all wonderful, and I wish them all the best. Can I just cry, now ? :(
Consent Decree KV Pharmaceutical Enters Into Consent Decree With FDA Monday March 2, 2009, 8:30 am EST
ST. LOUIS, March 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- KV Pharmaceutical Company (NYSE: KVa/KVb) today announced that it has entered into a consent decree with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding the company's drug manufacturing and distribution. The decree provides a series of measures that, when satisfied, will permit KV to resume the manufacture and distribution of products marketed by its subsidiaries, ETHEX and Ther-Rx. The Company is working expeditiously to satisfy the requirements and expects to provide further information in upcoming communications.
As part of the consent decree, KV has agreed not to market products it manufactures until it has satisfied certain requirements designed to demonstrate compliance with FDA's current good manufacturing practices (CGMP) regulations. KV has also agreed that it will not distribute certain products, including its prenatal vitamins and hematinic products, until the products are approved by FDA's ANDA or NDA processes.
"We have been working diligently with the FDA for the last two months to reach agreement on a clear path forward to permit KV to resume manufacturing and marketing its products," said David A. Van Vliet, KV's Interim Chief Executive Officer. "Since December, when new management took over at KV, our team has taken significant steps to enhance our systems and procedures, and we will continue to do so. We look forward to cooperating with the FDA during this process that will facilitate our return to the market. Predicting the timing for the return and the ultimate product assortment that we will market are presently very difficult due to the range of variables that must be managed. As we gain certainty, we will notify customers and all other stakeholders."
The consent decree provides that, before resuming manufacturing, KV will have an independent third party CGMP expert consultant undertake a review of KV's facilities and certify compliance with FDA's CGMP regulations. Following that certification, FDA will make a determination as to whether the KV facilities are in compliance. The decree further provides that KV may request of FDA that it be permitted to resume manufacturing and distribution of certain products before the company is cleared by FDA to resume full operations. KV has already retained the third party CGMP expert consultant, which has been on-site for several weeks.
The consent decree is expected to be submitted today to the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Missouri, Eastern Division by the Department of Justice and is subject to approval by the Court.
Here is the what this consent decree about, http://in.reuters.com/article/governmentFilingsNews/idINBNG49709920090302. This is acutally the worst case scenario the managements were planning on before the massive layoffs. DVV made it looked better in company's statement. Most likely, KV won't be able to resume production in the near term.
Consider yourself lucky to get severance at all, us layed off people are getting screwed, nothing, we pay our own insurance starting this month and unemployment barely covers groceries and gas. At least if you were terminated you got something. The best thing about this whole mess is that the people in charge of this disaster will soon face the judge and explain what the hell happen and why they let it happen that way. I personally think the FDA couldnt wait to get in and close KV since they didnt get thier way with everything when MSH was there and I hope they are real damn happy they place 1000 people out of work during a recession in hopes that they can have thier friends in other pharmaceutical companies start making the product.. Never trust the Gov to look out for your best interest, I believe there are deeper motives than trying to look out for general publics interest. The FDA should be trying to HELP KV develope a plan to conform to standards and resume production, not impose fines and near impossible restrictions. They should be monitoring, inspecting, and enforce GMP's which they could have definatly did under a current manufacturing of at least some medications. Doesnt it sound a little wiered that they want all the drugs back and destroyed while not allowing production and distrubution of any medications which had safe batch records and can be revalidated? KV isnt completely innocent! However, the FDA, im my opinion, has once again demenstrated how they can abuse goverment power over companies with out anyone monitoring thier decisions and motivation. We should be upset with the managment who put us out of work, however, we should also direct our anger to the FDA for making a solvable problem worse and or unsolvable.
That's Kladney. The Gov is paying 65% of Cobra for 9 months and 9 months from now it will probably continue, as unemployment probably will also as the economy will be worse and still more unemployed.
If you were laid off then you get the 65%. It does not matter where you worked. The ones who got the package are not eligible for stimulus package until the warn pay is finished. KV under law has 45 days from the date of the stimulus package was signed to send out letters of eligibility. If you have cobra, you have 45 days from the date of you last day working to pay the premium. If you want, you can wait until you get the stimulus letter if it comes before the date you have to pay the premium. If you pay the premium, thats ok to, they will not reimburse you but they will credit your monthly premium until the credit is gone. I hope that makes sense. If you are like many of us, you may have already figured out that insurance companies are not accepting policies if you take a medicine,, etc, so this may be your only option. hope this helps.
many of us called the number on the cobra paper and were told that if we have the "possibility" of a re-hire(ie not bought off), we are not eligible for the stimulus cobra...even though we all pretty much know there is no way all of production can be brought back..there were just too many of us... but happy for you..get all you can... wish we could
7 called back today to start getting materials in order. News is more over next 2 weeks as Lachman actions in process and restart of production looks to be about 3 weeks out.
News from the Qa side is that product assessmens are complete and gmp audit will b complete around 3.25. No major issues but lots of work to ensure conrolled start up. Will run test runs starting in early April, with validation runs starting in mid April. Expect fda inspection in May and start shiping if all ok.
Ex-KV Employee here. I read the 483. You certainly have your work cut out for you but it can be done and with Lachmann's help it should go fairly quickly. Who is taking Kladney's place? Seems like KV should get back in the market with the creams soon. Very little in the 483 about Clindesse and Gynazole that can't be fixed quickly.
Rumor has it there going to out source all product's to India for only 25% the cost here in St Louis.Their going tell the FDA to tale hike with all of us.That's what I call creating great job's in America.Thank's alot from the unemployed in St Louis.
rumor also has it that there will be one shift...now how many people does it take to run one shift...jobs are scarce..if you can get one..take it... kv will be a while starting back up..did you see the lists of 483's...gotta face facts...they won't need all of us, and even so, it's going to take a long time...wait if you want...I'm going crazy waiting...adios....good night kv
IF (and that is a big IF) KV does make it, they will not need everyone back. KV can't sell any of the unapproved products without an ANDA or NDA and we all know that those products were a very large percentage of the manufacturing volumes.
I agree with the previous post. With the list of items in the 483, it is going to take a long time to get the other products back up. We will probably on see a couple at a time.
Well I worked at E C 2 .They called 3 of my co workers back, and are getting the destruction done fast. Most of the other buildings are done and they are suppose to be training production workers ,to start production hopefully this week or next.
I heard production is starting back up sometime this month. It is Q1 of our new fiscal year. I can't understand why the stock tanked today. Would be a good buy at this point. I know they did receive millions in a tax return that will keep them going. Kv is going nowhere it may take a bit to get it back up and running but hey it's worth the risk.
Does anyone know for sure there was a press conference? I didn't see anything on the KV website or anywhere else for that matter except for cafepharma. Seems like if it were true there would be some info somewhere.
They let go more people in the QC area today and the word is that there is going to be more tomorrow. A total of 17 in the lab today, not sure how many tomorrow.
With just a few people, it only sounds like only a couple products are coming back for now. Unless a large number can come back soon, I don't see how the company is going to make it.
Dude get your head out of your ass. They can't do it all at once. Start with a couple and the rest will follow. It would be nice if they could just snap their fingers and be up and running. I know the wait is agonizing, it certainly is for me. At least give them a chance to get going before you throw the baby out with the bath water.
Heard today that several mid-level managers have resigned: one in production and two in Quality. Not that big of a loss, especially the production guy who God knows how got that position. The QA dude is the one who actually drove the investigations, CAPAs etc into the ground, somehow kept his job, but now is going to Covidien, aka the "KV asylum", the screw thing over at that place.
Yes, it is confirmed April 13, West Port, a couple of production people. It will be a slow start. 3-4 products. Everybody has to go through class training and hands on training before doing anything. It's going to take a bit before things get rolling. Sounds like KV is doing things the right way. It will be a slow moving forward process, but eventualy they will have everybody back they want.
yeah possibly drug products back up to the market and start generating revenue takes about six months, it is the plan but doubt the cash could sustain until Aug??
Once they get going and can show that things are going to be done right things should move a little quicker don't you all think? Its just getting past the initial start up thats the pain. They need to get going just as bad as we need them to get going.
Move quicker? I think each product has to be revalidated, right? Based on the 483, I am guessing some will be harder than others and it may be hard to predict any kind of timing.
You guys are in dream land, it will be next year before they call us back, keep looking for work and other options. Even if you go back they have hired a company to evaluate you as you work and see if you actually know your job, and if you'r not in with kissing ass of certain people there then it doesnt matter how well you know your job. How can they call us back and continue to lay off people? And, why the hell would they close PDI if it is the only division making money? Even if it is a little money, at least its some income.
They will need a small number of manufacturing people compared to what was needed before. The unapproved products can no longer be made. Further, each product needs to be validated to return. Some may never pass. Meanwhile, it will be a long and slow process to get the remaining viable products back to the market. When products do make it to the market, we can expect lower volumes as the competitors have taken the business and not all of it will return.
lol.Employees Have not posted on here since february.looks like some yahoo jerks think their kv employees.production line coming right along.we will be ready to restart very soon.i wish all the employees were coming back but the fact is everyone will not be needed.all of us that are back are glad to be working.
Bill Smith? the bobblehead of KV? He and his Six Sigma group accomplished nothing and he gets promoted??? Shouldn't his group have caught some of these issues? What a joke? Who next? Tom the mail guy heads up R&D????
i heard production starting in June and July, and finally start shipping in August. did anyone else hear this news? If so what the hell is taking so long? and can they make it?
Thu Apr 9, 7:14 pm ET WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Companies marketing a liquid morphine that was unapproved for sale in the United States can keep selling it for now because regulators have determined it is essential for relieving pain in some patients who are near death.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which recently told the companies to stop marketing the product here, said it was reversing course after discussions with groups that provide end-of-life care. Advocates said the morphine elixir, sold in a potent 20-milligram per milliliter strength, was the only pain relief option for some dying patients.
On March 30, the FDA sent letters to nine companies telling them to stop selling 14 unapproved narcotic pain medicines as part of an effort to rid the market of drugs that do not have proper clearance. The companies were given 60 days to stop making them.
Seven of those companies make or distribute the liquid morphine that is used for some dying patients.
On Thursday, the FDA sent new letters to the makers or distributors of the liquid morphine telling them sales could continue for now, according to Douglas Throckmorton, deputy director of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
Sales of unapproved versions will have to stop after an acceptable liquid morphine wins approval or when the FDA determines that appropriate alternatives are available, Throckmorton told reporters.
Makers of the morphine solution include Glenmark Generics, a unit of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals; Lannett Company, and Covidien Ltd unit Mallinckrodt, according to information on the FDA's website.
Does this mean that KV can continue to sell Morphine Sulphate Oral Solution 20mg/1 mL?
It means we are still out of a job, KV will not make anything unless the dictator DV and the ones he hired will allow it. Cant take a crap with out them telling you how wipe and flush the toilette. In reality,,, that means "for real" for those in la la land, it will be at least a year for income of the drugs to come in and it wont be very much. KV will survive, however, they will not need us laid off people to run a much smaller company.. 2+2=??? They are trying to keep as many people from returning in order to satisfy certain criteria of lending, besides, if your called back you will be re-evaluated and determined if your qualified to do your job by a hireing firm. Doesnt this make you wonder how BS is still there? Food for thought, has anyone put together how this event unfolded in the first place????
Wow. It seems that some people are just WAY too alarmist...and even a little stubborn in thinking that we will all be brought back. It ain't gonna happen. And yes, SOME companies DO shut down for Good Friday still. Obviously, if the person who was alarmed by WP having an empty parking lot, didn't know that, then they weren't employed by KV, as they would know that is a holiday...the floating holiday for this year, in fact.
On anohter note, if KV was ever thinking about getting out of the Deluxe building, which they don't own, maybe now would be a real good time to get rid of that facility rent and move those operations to one of the other more up-to-date facilities?
Could potentially save some much needed cash flow as well as perhaps help out with a lot of the safety problems.
It seems like there is a deliberate stall on the part of upper management. Is there reason related to the Union at WP? If the union is out for 6 monthe does the company have to call them back??
This all sounds like a load of crap to me. KV has been in business for how many years? Now all of a sudden we can't make a pill to save our souls? With the importance of these first runs you would think there would be inspectors, management, whoever going right along with every step to make sure cgmp's are followed to the T. What happened? We've only been out for 4 months now before they're trying to manufacture again. You say now they're not doing it right and its going to take another 6 months. BS. Don't blame the employees for this. Most of us were thrown under the bus by NO means of our own. It would be nice to hear from the company whats going on but, instead we have to come here or other places like this to hear a bunch of crap from employees or ex-employees (yeah right). Its in KV's best interest to move this along. I know you have to do things right but how long does it take? Sounds like BS to me.
The Lachman computer team rendered the original Pensa ERP system validation void(back in 2003). In other words, the computer system is not considered validated and will have to be redone(or at least pieces of it). This ought to get even more interesting due to the brain trust that is left in the IT group.
IT doesnt perform computer validation - the validation group (once Engineering and now part of QA) does. IF the ERP software needs to be re-validated this is the least of our worries. Paying attention to critical GxP and having management that consistently cares about it is the first and major hurdle to be concerned about.
They will have Gestiva approval by Q3 and will have plenty of money as soon as they do. KV can always borrow money - its a matter of how much they want to pay to get it. Right now our heroic executive management is dreaming of how much money they will make once they get product back on the market with 20% of the headcount....
Yeah, I agree with you. There is a putz on yahoo that posts stuff here just so that he can cut and paste it on yahoo just to claim that he has new information. Typical pump and dump.
Saw the update today. Looks like production is delayed. The EARLIEST to get any products back is the last quarter of the calendar year. Hate to see what the worst case is.
"However, the Company currently does not expect the re-initiation of shipments to occur prior to the third quarter of the Company's fiscal year 2010 (which is the fourth quarter of calendar year 2009) at the earliest."
Hahaha. Couldn't have happened to a nicer company. Company will in the end operate with 250 employees or so. That means 300 more will have to go. Rita, Jay S. that means you.
I believe several more middle and upper managment personel have been let go, ie. Marty D and Eric F. Is Rita still there? Bill S is running the show?,, I dont believe many of us will be called back, its looking more grim. Does Bill know how to run engineering?
Rita is not President anymore, the job was eliminated. She is in charge of re-training the called back employees. She'll probably be gone when, if the re-training is finished. Maintenance & Engineering have or will be disbanded. Health & Safety report to HR. Calibration & Validation report to QA. Mechanics will report to the various plant managers. There's only 2 Engineers left who are working on Lackman requirements & when, if those are done, they'll probably be terminated.
You are correct - and increased exponentially with the onslaught of the Mallincrodt alumni association. Middle, upper and top management were made away of this in no uncertain terms and the only response was "it's too politcal - nothing can be done". 2 years and 1,100+ terminations later ???? This did not apply only to fda issues.
This is starting to look like CF. As a competitor, it is great to see you clowns tear each other apart. It is terrible to see how all those Mallincrodt people degraded the steller reputation that KV had before they arrived. HA. Guess all the street talk about the losers at KV was and is right. Since this is the X-KV blog, maybe the right group remains to fix their issues, but with this as a cultural base seems hard to believe.
If you are a competitor of KV then you must be in deep do - do We are not shipping, in case you missed that, haven't and will not anytime soon based on the most recent "word" from "management". "BUT WE ARE WORKING VERY HARD ... guess that means justifying the continuation of their big fat salaries.
Quit knocking it, please. At least they are finally approaching a logical, sustainable business model using the talents of the best people - in some cases
hahahahahahahahaha.....there still isn't a plan. Also, anyone that has strong talents has gone elsewhere. Would you put your future on the line here when you have a family to suppport?
I am posting this totally unconfirmed rumor that I heard this last weekend. I did hear that Covidien is going to buy out some of KV's production and even some products. Again, I cannot confirm it, so take it as such. I just wanted to pass along the rumor that comes from within Covidien
this is better than cf- no one can delete posts

ReplyDeleteIs Bob Betcher still with KV he was the worst rep of all time.
ReplyDeleteDo you think that they are going to get their act together to save some jobs. I am not sure if the current process is going to pass the FDA and the consultants. I hope for everyone that they are going to do good and give so people their jobs back
ReplyDeleteBob Betcher is a DM. They have leaked out that they are only keeping 1/3 of the sales force. No word on when the RIF's will start.
ReplyDeleteThey made Betcher a DM no wonder this place went under, the guy was fired from Coca Col a he couldnt sell the number 1 brand in the world. The guy was always bragging about bringing donuts to offices, what a joke.

ReplyDeleteThe rest of the layoffs will be next week
ReplyDeleteThe Pharmacy is supposed to start weighing material the first Week in March. And have "some" product ready to go sometime in April. Which means some support people will or should be called back prior to that. Just what I've heard. And yes I'm upset about being laid off 2-6-09. Forrest Pharm is hiring big time.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if we get our vacation pay- If we sign the severance agreement?
ReplyDeleteFor those who have lost their jobs because KV's management is so ignorant, be aware that your resume may be frowned upon because most scientific industries are sure to know what went down to cause such lay-off. ReplyDeleteGot whacked in BT on the 6th. Amazing that most of the people left are doing nothing. Brannan got whacked but he still chose who he wanted out of there. ReplyDeleteBrannan had no clue about running a technology department.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know what the layoff criteria was/is?
ReplyDeleteIs our vacation pay accrued? ie. they are only responsible for paying 1/6th of out total yearly? 2 weeks yrly = 1.6 days by end of Feb. i think I did the math right on that one. Thanks for any info.
ReplyDeleteI believe they are not going to call back most of their packaging personnel. Especially the ones they didn't care for too much.

I do not know if I was a layoff or terminated no one called me I called and was told that the company would be laid off for six months or less the sent me info for unemployment I did not know anything about severence pay so I did not sign anything can some one enlighten me on how it goes.
ReplyDeleteFigures they you called and they didnt call you.
ReplyDeleteApparently -- now KV is in the censorship business as well because Human Resources sent a memo out stating that KV employees were NOT allowed to give any references for ex-KV employees and to refer them to the Human Resources department, who from what I can tell, is just an answering machine.
ReplyDelete"Apparently -- now KV is in the censorship business as well because Human Resources sent a memo out stating that KV employees were NOT allowed to give any references for ex-KV employees and to refer them to the Human Resources department"
ReplyDeleteWow, is this true?
Just read from the AP, the first $2,400 in unemployment will not be taxable this year and 65% of Cobra for 9 months will be paid under the stimulus bill. Hope they're correct.
ReplyDeleteAlso from AP, unemployment will go up $25 and last longer. They had previously talked about two years.
ReplyDeletei left a few years ago and sold my stock (2 year holding). $4.5 per share cost. $19 per share cashout.
ReplyDeleteI then withdrew my 401K (5 year vesting).
Get ready to start your career all over.
Good Luck!
has anyone heard if there will be more layoffs? I was one of the unlucky ones that lost my job, but I still have friends their that I am worried about.
ReplyDeleteSales force bonus payout is Thursday and layoffs begin Friday.
ReplyDeleteAnybody left KV get pay yet?
ReplyDeleteno but some got calls to come in for testing ...
ReplyDeleteTesting for what
ReplyDeletepossible rehire
ReplyDeleterehire? in what area, may I ask?
ReplyDeleteThe rumor is call backs on March 2, production starts March 9. They are calling hunreds back for a test to rehire and reposition personel this weekend.
ReplyDeletewhat kind of test..anyone taken it yet??
ReplyDeleteSales just had our conf call. Drastic reduction to 76. No Q4 bonus. No PNV for a long time.
ReplyDeletewill be starting with a "skeleton" crew around the 2nd..trying to thin the "herd" with tests
ReplyDeleteknowing KV, the ones who fail will get rehired...probably in management!
ReplyDeletethey are saying production was all layoffs and will be eventually brought back...they don't honestly know..sure they won't need everybody
ReplyDeleteIt wasnt a skills test, more like a phsych exam. It asked alot of questions about your peronality, character,," pick the word which best describes you" etc. I hope they do call back soon, its rough out here, very few jobs and many applicants. I really like working for KV. Oh well, good luck everyone and hope to see you around if I get to come back.
ReplyDeleteit would figure that they mess with everyones minds and then require a psych test to return to week. i wish everyone the best in getting back to work and getting things up and running. let hope the layofs are as short lived as this board may indicate
ReplyDeleteCMA exam - a big fav of DVV...
ReplyDeleteI wonder how he did on it.
ReplyDeletethese physch tests are completely useless if the bad eggs in QC are still there stinking up the place.
ReplyDeleteSales force gets calls starting @ 7am. Only keeping 77 of them.
ReplyDeleteThis may be a stupid question, nevertheless I shall ask it.
ReplyDeleteDo you think they will do call-backs for those people who were terminated as part of this big lay off that KV did ?
ReplyDeleteGa How Did You Keep Your Job.
ReplyDeleteKV sent a FAQ letter. Terminated people have to re-apply as an applicant.
ReplyDeleteKS here, what's the latest on the VPs? Anyone from the Repliva group? How about John, Sales Director? Darn, what's his last name? He is ok from a management stand point. Anyone know about him?
ReplyDeleteThanks to those who were kind enough to answer my question re: call-back for terminated employees...! Good luck to all of you. I loved working for KV, the people I worked with were all wonderful, and I wish them all the best. Can I just cry, now ? :(
ReplyDeleteDOJ suing. What does this mean?
ReplyDeleteConsent Decree
ReplyDeleteKV Pharmaceutical Enters Into Consent Decree With FDA
Monday March 2, 2009, 8:30 am EST
ReplyDeleteThis is acutally the worst case scenario the managements were planning on before the massive layoffs. DVV made it looked better in company's statement. Most likely, KV won't be able to resume production in the near term.
also, they are having a hard time to raise cash from the market, there is rumor about bankruptcy, i wish they would pay severance as a lump-sum
ReplyDeleteConsider yourself lucky to get severance at all, us layed off people are getting screwed, nothing, we pay our own insurance starting this month and unemployment barely covers groceries and gas.
ReplyDeleteI didn't. I left just before the mess started. Got lucky, but helping all of my friends.
ReplyDelete"these physch tests are completely useless if the bad eggs in QC are still there stinking up the place"
ReplyDeleteSounds like one of the Cladney's heroes.
Hey slackjaw, remember 2+2 = 5, so says the PAR specs. QC didn't get us shut down, they just didn't help the situation.
That's Kladney. The Gov is paying 65% of Cobra for 9 months and 9 months from now it will probably continue, as unemployment probably will also as the economy will be worse and still more unemployed.
ReplyDeleteWe are not eligible for the 65% stimulus cobra.if you were production..dunno about you who got a "package"..production got nothing but "cya"
ReplyDeleteIf you were laid off then you get the 65%.
ReplyDeletemany of us called the number on the cobra paper and were told that if we have the "possibility" of a re-hire(ie not bought off), we are not eligible for the stimulus cobra...even though we all pretty much know there is no way all of production can be brought back..there were just too many of us... but happy for you..get all you can... wish we could
ReplyDeleteHas anyone been called back on the production side?
ReplyDelete7 called back today to start getting materials in order. News is more over next 2 weeks as Lachman actions in process and restart of production looks to be about 3 weeks out.
ReplyDeleteNews from the Qa side is that product assessmens are complete and gmp audit will b complete around 3.25. No major issues but lots of work to ensure conrolled start up. Will run test runs starting in early April, with validation runs starting in mid April. Expect fda inspection in May and start shiping if all ok.
ReplyDeleteThe 37 page FDA report address is below. Apparently it was released today.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.fda.gov/ora/frequent/483s/STL.KV_483_2009.pdf
Ex-KV Employee here. I read the 483. You certainly have your work cut out for you but it can be done and with Lachmann's help it should go fairly quickly. Who is taking Kladney's place?
ReplyDeleteSeems like KV should get back in the market with the creams soon. Very little in the 483 about Clindesse and Gynazole that can't be fixed quickly.
Probably Holtz.
ReplyDeletePrenatal vitamins and Repliva websites are no longer active. Does this mean they are going to be sold or discontinued?
ReplyDeleteI think it means rather than take the time to update all those websites, they just shut them off for the time being...
ReplyDeleteRumor has it that all Vitamin products will be outsourced for manufacuring by the highest bidder.
ReplyDeleteRumor has it there going to out source all product's to India for only 25% the cost here in St Louis.Their going tell the FDA to tale hike with all of us.That's what I call creating great job's in America.Thank's alot from the unemployed in St Louis.
ReplyDeleteThe rumor is a crock of crap. KV is in the process of re-starting production now, in EARTH CITY, MO., USA....
ReplyDeleteWill KV have to file an ANDA for each of the pre-natals to get them back on the market??
ReplyDeleteThat is generally what is required to get FDA approval. In fact, they may have to go so far as to file NDA's instead.
ReplyDeleteA person on nother site said S&P raised it's value of KV-A to $3.80.
ReplyDeleteSo...is there anybody out there with any realistic idea weather people are going to get there jobs back in a reasonable amount of time?
ReplyDeleteLayoffs = no more jobs PERIOD
ReplyDeleteIf there are no more jobs PERIOD, why are employees being called back?
ReplyDeletethose were the ones IDLED, not TERMINATED.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding. The post says layoffs = no more jobs PERIOD. That's not true. The laid off people have a chance to get called back to work!
ReplyDeleteIsn't IDLED just another way of saying LAIDOFF? People will get called back, its just a matter of when.
ReplyDeletehas anyone been called back besides those first 7
ReplyDeleterumor is some more has been called back. nothing confirmed.
ReplyDeleteProduction and pharmacy
ReplyDeleteHow many and what are they doing? Distruction still??
ReplyDeletewere production and pharmacy called back? if so are you for certain?
ReplyDeletedoes anyone know why kv is being so hush hush on all information? including call backs
ReplyDeleteI am production and have many friends in production...we are all looking elsewhere.. 2 months, too long... sooo long
ReplyDeletewhy are you jumping ship, the rumor is production and pharmacy are being called back maybe next week.
ReplyDeleterumor also has it that there will be one shift...now how many people does it take to run one shift...jobs are scarce..if you can get one..take it... kv will be a while starting back up..did you see the lists of 483's...gotta face facts...they won't need all of us, and even so, it's going to take a long time...wait if you want...I'm going crazy waiting...adios....good night kv
ReplyDeleteIF (and that is a big IF) KV does make it, they will not need everyone back. KV can't sell any of the unapproved products without an ANDA or NDA and we all know that those products were a very large percentage of the manufacturing volumes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the previous post.
ReplyDeleteI worked at EC2 too
ReplyDeletecan anyone on this site confirm that production or pharmacy has been called back?
ReplyDeleteAny bad news at KV? Stock dropped 30% today, even though KV recently got 80-90 millions tax return for this years' cancelled clinical projects.
ReplyDeleteI heard production is starting back up sometime this month. It is Q1 of our new fiscal year. I can't understand why the stock tanked today. Would be a good buy at this point. I know they did receive millions in a tax return that will keep them going. Kv is going nowhere it may take a bit to get it back up and running but hey it's worth the risk.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the loonies from the yahoo board are now posting on this board. You don't get a tax refund for cancelling clinical trials.
ReplyDeleteKV has a press conference scheduled for 1:00 today. Probably a big announcement. Bankruptcy? Sale? Production?
ReplyDeletedoes anyone know what was said at the press conference today?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know for sure there was a press conference? I didn't see anything on the KV website or anywhere else for that matter except for cafepharma. Seems like if it were true there would be some info somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThey let go more people in the QC area today and the word is that there is going to be more tomorrow. A total of 17 in the lab today, not sure how many tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteA few people are going back to work at westport in production, on April 13. Its a start at least. A good sign!
ReplyDeleteWith just a few people, it only sounds like only a couple products are coming back for now. Unless a large number can come back soon, I don't see how the company is going to make it.
ReplyDeleteDude get your head out of your ass. They can't do it all at once. Start with a couple and the rest will follow. It would be nice if they could just snap their fingers and be up and running. I know the wait is agonizing, it certainly is for me. At least give them a chance to get going before you throw the baby out with the bath water.
ReplyDeletethose people going back on the 13th to westport, has that been confirmed
ReplyDeleteHeard today that several mid-level managers have resigned: one in production and two in Quality. Not that big of a loss, especially the production guy who God knows how got that position. The QA dude is the one who actually drove the investigations, CAPAs etc into the ground, somehow kept his job, but now is going to Covidien, aka the "KV asylum", the screw thing over at that place.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is confirmed April 13, West Port, a couple of production people. It will be a slow start. 3-4 products. Everybody has to go through class training and hands on training before doing anything. It's going to take a bit before things get rolling. Sounds like KV is doing things the right way. It will be a slow moving forward process, but eventualy they will have everybody back they want.
ReplyDeleteWith a slow start, the cash just won't last. Doesn't take a math expert to figure this out.
ReplyDeleteyeah possibly drug products back up to the market and start generating revenue takes about six months, it is the plan but doubt the cash could sustain until Aug??
ReplyDeleteThere are hundred's of SKU's. Getting a few at a time, means a ssssslllllooooowwwwww ramp up of sales/cash.
ReplyDeleteOnce they get going and can show that things are going to be done right things should move a little quicker don't you all think? Its just getting past the initial start up thats the pain. They need to get going just as bad as we need them to get going.
ReplyDeletewhat is the confirmed start up date????
ReplyDeleteMove quicker? I think each product has to be revalidated, right? Based on the 483, I am guessing some will be harder than others and it may be hard to predict any kind of timing.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are in dream land, it will be next year before they call us back, keep looking for work and other options.
ReplyDeletethey laid off sales people, but they still need people to come back and manufacture the drugs, and that can't wait till next year.
ReplyDeleteThey will need a small number of manufacturing people compared to what was needed before.
ReplyDeletelol.Employees Have not posted on here since february.looks like some yahoo jerks think their kv employees.production line coming right along.we will be ready to restart very soon.i wish all the employees were coming back but the fact is everyone will not be needed.all of us that are back are glad to be working.
ReplyDeleteWho is the new VP of Operations??
ReplyDeleteBill Smith, the BS artist...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comeback on Bill Smith. I hope he can handle it!
ReplyDeleteall these rumors out there about a start up date, does anyone on this site have the correct re-start date? or is everyone just taking a guess?
ReplyDeleteBill Smith? the bobblehead of KV? He and his Six Sigma group accomplished nothing and he gets promoted??? Shouldn't his group have caught some of these issues? What a joke? Who next? Tom the mail guy heads up R&D????
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one!!!
ReplyDeleteThere's an R&D?
ReplyDeletei heard production starting in June and July, and finally start shipping in August. did anyone else hear this news? If so what the hell is taking so long? and can they make it?

ReplyDeleteWASHINGTON (Reuters) – Companies marketing a liquid morphine that was unapproved for sale in the United States can keep selling it for now because regulators have determined it is essential for relieving pain in some patients who are near death.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you fill us in?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought!
ReplyDeleteI hear they are having a big meeting tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteSome place in St. Charles.
Does anybody know what happen to the westport plant. I went there the other day on 4/10/09 and there was nothing there no cars no people around?
ReplyDeletethey were closed for good friday
ReplyDeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteOn anohter note, if KV was ever thinking about getting out of the Deluxe building, which they don't own, maybe now would be a real good time to get rid of that facility rent and move those operations to one of the other more up-to-date facilities?
Could potentially save some much needed cash flow as well as perhaps help out with a lot of the safety problems.
No no no, the floating holiday was presidents day
ReplyDeleteKV is a perpetual floating holiday...
ReplyDeletegood friday has always been a paid holiday
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should start a blog for KV employees
ReplyDeleteAgree, some current KV employees booootshitttting here!!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like there is a deliberate stall on the part of upper management. Is there reason related to the Union at WP? If the union is out for 6 monthe does the company have to call them back??
ReplyDeleteUnion was disbanded last year...that is not the cause.
ReplyDeleteHeard that Lackman is stopping production because the employees called back violate sops and cgmps and have to start ove
ReplyDeleteIf things have stopped, it may be more towards the end of the year until product is back on the market. Ouch!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the people there calling back have been there so long they can't change. Maybe some newer blood. hummm maybe
ReplyDeleteLackman has not stopped anything. Nothing has started.
ReplyDeleteNothing started? That is just as bad.
ReplyDeleteKV has only one shot. No need to rush, just like what got us here. Rush and screw-up.
ReplyDeleteOnly screw-up now no more KV.
With cash running out, you can't take your time.
ReplyDeleteThis all sounds like a load of crap to me.
ReplyDeleteNot to save our souls but just do it right. You know what I mean. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThe Lachman computer team rendered the original Pensa ERP system validation void(back in 2003). In other words, the computer system is not considered validated and will have to be redone(or at least pieces of it). This ought to get even more interesting due to the brain trust that is left in the IT group.
ReplyDeleteIT doesnt perform computer validation - the validation group (once Engineering and now part of QA) does. IF the ERP software needs to be re-validated this is the least of our worries. Paying attention to critical GxP and having management that consistently cares about it is the first and major hurdle to be concerned about.
ReplyDeleteI heard a rumor that the company has only enough money to make it to February (about 10 months).
ReplyDeleteThey will have Gestiva approval by Q3 and will have plenty of money as soon as they do. KV can always borrow money - its a matter of how much they want to pay to get it. Right now our heroic executive management is dreaming of how much money they will make once they get product back on the market with 20% of the headcount....
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know who purchased PDI and how much it sold for?
ReplyDeleteLooks like someone is in dreamland. Gestiva will not be approved in Q3. Any money that can be borrowed will be needed just to keep the doors open.
ReplyDeleteWould the yahoo idiots stop posting here. You have no idea as to what is going on in the company.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree with you. There is a putz on yahoo that posts stuff here just so that he can cut and paste it on yahoo just to claim that he has new information. Typical pump and dump.
ReplyDeleteSaw the update today. Looks like production is delayed. The EARLIEST to get any products back is the last quarter of the calendar year. Hate to see what the worst case is.
ReplyDeleteThey must have a plan. They are still
ReplyDeletecalling back people. More start next week.
More production? Pharmacy?
ReplyDelete"However, the Company currently does not expect the re-initiation of shipments to occur prior to the third quarter of the Company's fiscal year 2010 (which is the fourth quarter of calendar year 2009) at the earliest."
ReplyDeleteHahaha. Couldn't have happened to a nicer company. Company will in the end operate with 250 employees or so. That means 300 more will have to go. Rita, Jay S. that means you.
however made that last post..you are ignorant..and not kv caliber..
ReplyDeleteCorrection: you are exactly the caliber KV needs if you are ignorant...
ReplyDelete"however" said I am ignorant is grammatically challenged. Must've been in Corporate Communications.
ReplyDeleteLookin more and more like the yahoo board every day.
ReplyDeleteI believe several more middle and upper managment personel have been let go, ie. Marty D and Eric F. Is Rita still there? Bill S is running the show?,, I dont believe many of us will be called back, its looking more grim. Does Bill know how to run engineering?
ReplyDeleteBill S can run anything. Especially his mouth...
ReplyDeleteRita is not President anymore, the job was eliminated.
ReplyDeleteFinally got it right. Thank you
ReplyDeleteTell me how/why Brooke and JS are still employed??
ReplyDeleteThis stuff started 3-4 years ago when Brook was in charge so why is he still working at KV??
You are correct - and increased exponentially with the onslaught of the Mallincrodt alumni association. Middle, upper and top management were made away of this in no uncertain terms and the only response was "it's too politcal - nothing can be done". 2 years and 1,100+ terminations later ???? This did not apply only to fda issues.
ReplyDeleteThis is starting to look like CF.
ReplyDeleteWonderful fix. 80% fewer employees and 90% decrease in stock price. Keep up the good work so I'll have to work here forever.
ReplyDeleteCan I get my union pension plan back?
ReplyDeleteIf you are a competitor of KV then you must be in deep do - do We are not shipping, in case you missed that, haven't and will not anytime soon based on the most recent "word" from "management". "BUT WE ARE WORKING VERY HARD ... guess that means justifying the continuation of their big fat salaries.
ReplyDeleteQuit knocking it, please. At least they are finally approaching a logical, sustainable business model using the talents of the best people - in some cases
ReplyDeleteSustainable business model???? best people????
ReplyDeletehahahahahahahahaha.....there still isn't a plan. Also, anyone that has strong talents has gone elsewhere. Would you put your future on the line here when you have a family to suppport?
with the Van Vliet and Bill Smith in charge I am sure the competition is very happy and KV`s stockholders are very worried.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know who is running human resources? Or, has the company hired consultants for that also?
ReplyDeleteMelissa Hughes is still in charge.
ReplyDeleteWell I'll be damned! - was NAIVE enough to think the email and voice mail were just going unattended. Shame on me!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to all. Truly hope all the "ex's" have a wonderful day with their families!
ReplyDeleteHow cannot you not start to produce and sell even one product?
ReplyDeleteIs it the matter of time when KV starts a logical, sustainable business model under 300 Talented Work Force by Lachman ??
ReplyDeleteI am posting this totally unconfirmed rumor that I heard this last weekend. I did hear that Covidien is going to buy out some of KV's production and even some products. Again, I cannot confirm it, so take it as such. I just wanted to pass along the rumor that comes from within Covidien
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how someone fell so easily for the Covidien story. Some moron already posted it on the yahoo site.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, KV employees - ex and current - would be 100 times better off if it were true.
ReplyDeleteNot for a second should anyone believe that Covidien will ever touch KV's facilities or products.
